What is colon hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy helps remove waste from the colon and lower intestine. Many believe that health begins in the colon. Colon hydrotherapy treatments date back to ancient Egypt and were used to increase energy, health and enhance beauty. Modern reasons for colon hydrotherapy haven’t changed much. In fact, colon hydrotherapy is still used to assist in eliminating wastes from your body when you cannot due to various health issues.

How often should I have a colonic?

Everyone’s needs are different. You may need a single session if you have an acute case of constipation. Or you might require several visits to resolve certain, chronic, health issues. After your initial visit and consultation with a therapist, you’ll be given a recommendation based upon your individual needs and goals. Whether you choose a single visit or a series of sessions, we’ll guide you in the right direction. Normally we recommend our 3 or 10 session series in order to fully realize what colonics can do for you and your health, especially if you are on a detoxification or cleanse program.

Is colon hydrotherapy painful?

Colon hydrotherapy is not painful. Many people say the sessions are easier and more relaxing than they thought. Following our pre-session diet guidelines helps ease or avoid any potential discomfort. Preparing for a colon hydrotherapy session is an important step to get the most out of your visits.

How long does a colonic take?

Colonics are generally between 45-60 minutes in length as you are not only cleansing and hydrating your colon but also increasing the muscular action of your large intestine (called peristalsis). As with any muscle in your body, you would not want to overstrain it. Plan on being here a little longer for your initial session, which will typically last 90 minutes total. This is due to your initial consultation with our therapist to go over your health history form and review your goals to improve your health. We’ll explain the process thoroughly and answer any questions you might have. We also have a shower available on site for your comfort and convenience, if you choose to freshen up before heading out the door (please bring your own towel, if you think you’ll want to shower). Follow up sessions usually run 60 minutes (or more depending on whether you have other therapies booked, such as a Vibra-Trim, FIR Sauna, and/or Alim-Detox)

What can I expect after my colon hydrotherapy session?

Our clients say they feel better after their sessions. Some say they feel lighter, healthier, invigorated and, some even report increased mental clarity. Sometimes you may tired and possibly bloated. This is due to the increased circulation of toxins that did not come out during your single session. Perhaps another session, or a few more, are needed. Hopefully, this website will provide you with an understanding of the potential benefits of colon hydrotherapy to your health.

After the colonic, will I need to be near the bathroom all day?

Normally clients release everything during their sessions. Our onsite bathroom is available after your session just in case you have an urge to release anything that didn’t flush out during the session. The rest of your day, after a session with us, should resume as normal… like any other day.

Will I lose weight?

You’ll possibly shed a few pounds of waste. While it might appear that you’ve lost weight, you should realize that what you’ve lost is actually accumulated waste. As you shed this waste from your body you might, like many of our clients, begin to choose to improve your diet by choosing to eat healthier foods for your body. As your sessions progress you’ll begin to learn more about your body health, and how your colon plays an important role in waste removal and nutrient absorption as an organ that has multiple functions. And at some sessions, clients will gain a few pounds of extra water weight from holding the water which is “soaking” the hardened fecal material that may be in the nooks and crannies of your 5-6 foot long colon. In that case, we recommend being near a bathroom if you feel any urge to pass gas, as it may be a “wet one”,  and we’d definitely recommend coming back sooner rather than later for another colonic!

I’m constipated, now what?

The colon is the last step in your body prior to eliminating waste. But did you know that it’s also the last step in the body process that will absorb as many nutrients from that same waste, as it can, prior to elimination? If you’re constipated, it might be because your body is trying to absorb nutrients from waste that it is not otherwise receiving; and so the colon holds on to the waste by trying to squeeze out every ounce of nutrition you’ve given your body. You are also, most likely, dehydrated. Colon hydrotherapy helps the body get rid of that waste, hydrates you with the purified water that is introduced, relieves that constipation, and gives you a fresh start.

Who can’t have a colonic done?

If you’ve had colon or abdominal surgery within 6 months, are pregnant, are on dialysis, have an abdominal hernia, or if you’re under cardiac distress. you are contra-indicated for this procedure. Please thoroughly read through the Contraindications listed on the health intake form to be sure you are all clear!

Does health insurance cover colonics?

No. Colon Hydrotherapy is NOT a medical treatment and is not reimbursed by insurance companies. Some types of policies that are called “flexible spending” or “health savings account” will issue what looks like a credit card to use for alternative wellness care. These cards can sometimes be used to pay for your treatment, but not always. It depends on what your insurance policy is willing to allow you to use the card for.
